If ever a tarn was distant from ones expectations of where a Lake District tarn should be found then this is it. There's no need to walk for hours across boggy moorland or to scramble over rocks and crags to reach this little gem. A couple of minutes level walking from the car parking area at Cinderdale Bridge (Nether Wasdale) and you're there.
The tarn is found at the bottom of a grazing field and has a complementary selection of trees, offering shade for those wishing to rest awhile in this lovely peaceful spot. The middle portion of the tarn is taken up by a grassy island.
