Crag Fell is another of the many fells with totally contrasting sides to it. To the west and south the fell is grassy, gentle and prone to hold onto water. To the north and east however, you're presented with something totally different. This side has rocks, crags, scree and some extremely steep sections of fellside; it also has the best view.
Although I've only included two routes onto Crag Fell, there are quite a few others you could take, but these are perhaps a little too difficult to recommend or they take you into a pathless and somewhat confusing area on the south side of the forest. I'm sure these two will more than satisfy most people anyway. It is possible to walk directly up from Anglers Crag and past The Pinnacles, but that way is reserved for those with a substantial experience of this type of terrain.
