Visiting Fairfield - a mini walking project in 2017

I only have one favorite fell and it isn't Fairfield, but, if I had to continue with a 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc etc, I'm sure Fairfield would be up there amongst the top fells on the list. Fairfield has so much more to offer then 'the horseshoe' and if you're inventive enough with your route ideas it has a brilliant selection of walks that include the summit at some point along the way. Without the need to do anything particularly out of the ordinary, there are a whole host of different places you can begin walks from. There are easy walks, hard walk, long walks, short walk, walks that take you through quiet valleys and walks that are incredibly busy. In short, Fairfield has it all.
For a few years now I've had the idea of focusing on this fell and including it on a dozen or so different routes in one year. Originally I wanted to do one ascent a month but in the end decided to complete the walks over spring / summer 2017 instead.

'Direct' route suggestions:

Route suggestion: Dunmail Raise - Raise Beck - Grisedale Hause - Fairfield
2.5 mile / approx 2100 ft ascent
++++++++++++++++++++
This has to be the shortest route onto Fairfield that doesn't include walking over another fell top. Navigation shouldn't be any problem but the final part of the route does have a very steep scree path which the less experienced may find a little off putting. The section along the north side of Seat Sandal can be very wet under foot.

Route suggestion: A591 - Tongue Gill - Little Tongue Gill - Tongue Gill - Hause Moss - Grisedale Hause - Fairfield
3 mile / approx 2500 ft ascent
++++++++++++++++++++
A thoroughly enjoyable walk of only three miles in length where the views looking back far out do the views ahead or even side to side. Behind, you have the vale of Grasmere which more than justifies the effort needed to walk up here.
The short section across the side of Hause Moss is over some sizable rocks and is quite rough under foot. A bit of care is needed if you walk along here in the wet as the stones become slippery.

Route suggestion: Bridge End - near Deepdale Hall - Wall End - Deepdale - Mossydale - Sleet Cove - Deepdale Hause - Cofa Pike - Fairfield
3.6 mile / approx 2300 ft ascent
++++++++++++++++++++
It's all a matter of opinion, but this is arguably the best route onto Fairfield. Deepdale is a lovely quiet valley where you stand a good chance of having the place to yourself. Once you ascend to Mossydale, the feeling of seclusion becomes apparent and although you're not actually too far from quite popular areas, you really do feel as though you're in a very remote place indeed. The walk over Cofa Pike is steep but easily manageable by anyone with moderate experience.
A route I'd recommend every fell walker should walk at least once in each direction.

Route suggestion: Patterdale - Grisedale - Ruthwaite Lodge - Grisedale Tarn - Grisedale Hause - Fairfield
5.3 mile / approx 2500 ft ascent
++++++++++++++++++++
This is a long route onto Fairfield and one that many people might frown upon because of the long valley walk in. In my opinion this is completely the wrong reason for not wanting to do this route. The walk through Grisedale actually adds to the walk rather than taking anything away.
Again, the final part of the route include the scree run between Grisedale Hause and Fairfield.
