Car park, Rosthwaite, Borrowdale

There are actually two car parks right next to each other in Rosthwaite. One is the official car park and this is reflected in the pay and display price. The other one is simply a number of parking spaces adjoining Rosthwaite Village Hall which has a honesty box on the wall of the building.
I know which one I'd rather give my money to.

Route Map

New Bridge found between Rosthwaite and the bottom of Castle Crag.

On the walk up to Castle Crag you come across this little shelter. I'm not sure what it was used for, but a well worn path takes you across to it, so quite a lot of people must let curiosity get the better of them. (myself included). At a guess I'd say it had some connection to the quarries found in the area.

The view to Borrowdale, Rosthwaite and Stonethwaite.

Looking up the zig-zag path through the spoil heaps just below Castle Crag summit.

And looking back down from the Zig-zags.

The fantastic view towards Derwent Water taken from Castle Crag summit.
The buildings in the middle of the photo are the village of Grange.

Castle Crag summit.

Next to the quarry on Castle Crag people have been standing the longer pieces of stone up to create these, well I'm not sure what they are, but my sister Marion said that from certain angles some of them look like praying hands.

And again.

Another view of Derwent Water, this one taken from the broad path marked on the map as The Allerdale Ramble. Castle Crag is on the right of the picture.

From the path we followed to Seatoller, looking back and zooming in on Castle Crag.

Much more sunshine now as we walk down into Seatoller.

Some of the cottages in Seatoller. The same ones seen in the previous photo.

The parish church of St Andrew, Borrowdale. Just outside Stonethwaite.

And the view taken from the church yard.

The way back to Rosthwaite in very warm sunshine.
