The two fells of Ling Fell and Sale Fell are quite often walked as a pair and although they can be done from a few different places. This spot offers a convenient starting point whichever one you decide to walk first. The other good side to starting here is that you're never too far away from the car. If the weather was to take a turn for the worse, you could easily abandon the walk and get back to the car in no time at all.

I'd promised myself the next day when the weather wasn't going to be great I'd get some jobs done at home, well today was that day. The good news was that I got the jobs done sooner than I expected to, so I still managed to get out for a short walk, even though it was a bit of a last minute decision. The bad news was that twenty minutes into the walk the heavens opened and it bucketed down.

Leaving the load behind and heading on to the corpse road running below Ling Fell.

Well there it goes; the blue sky and sunshine I'd left home in and drove around to Ling Fell in.

Looking across to Binsey, which was looking quite clear considering the conditions.

Sale Fell, the Ullock Pike ridge and Skiddaw.

Wythop Mill and Embleton seen from the corpse road.

As I started the short uphill section to the summit I could see the rain starting to move in from the west.

Ling Fell summit.

Looking in the same direction as I was making my way off the fell.
