Roadside parking, Loweswater (waterend)

Assuming that everyone parks properly, there is room for quite a few cars along here. This is my prefered starting point for a circuit of Loweswater or a walk onto the Fellbarrow / Low Fell ridge.

Route Map

Only a short, lower level walk this afternoon I'm afraid. Although I did actually set out this morning to do a longer walk, within a couple of miles from home however, it was pouring down and I just thought, no, I really don't want to spend the morning walking in this. So it was back home with the hope that the afternoon would turn out to be a little better.

Loweswater seen from just after leaving Hudson Place.

Looking back along the path.

Walking alongside the lake next to Holme Wood.

A rather dark looking Loweswater with a cloud topped Grasmoor behind.

The small bothy found on the lake shore in Holme Wood.

Low Fell seen from the Watergate Farm end of Holme Wood.

And the view back down the lake.

By the time were approaching Maggie's Bridge the cloud had almost lifted from Mellbreak and we could see a few dots of blue sky, behind us, towards the coast. It looks as though we'd have been better waiting that extra hour.

Hen Comb.

A close up of Mellbreak.
