Roadside parking, near Wythop Church

This litterally is parking alongside the road, with more of the car being on than off the road. There are some wider spaces in front of the church, but for instant access to the fellside below Sale Fell this is the beat spot.

Obviously parking is free along here.

Route Map

I only had time for a short walk today, so I headed onto Sale Fell for a couple of hours of sunshine and a bit of welcome warmth.

A view back down the path to, , , sorry, but I don't actually know the name of the valley; if it's got a name at all.

Bassenthwaite Lake and Binsey.

There are more choices of routes in this little area than you can shake a stick at, which makes this a great spot to walk when time is limited. For no particular reason, I walked around to Lothwaite and Rivings before making my way to the summit today.

Bassenthwaite, Skiddaw, the Ullock Pike ridge and Dodd, seen from Lothwaite.

Looking around to the right you can see how hazy the long distance views were.

Looking back from the short route to Rivings.

As I said, there are lots of options around here so I headed down to Brumston Bridge with the intentions of walking back around by the tiny hamlet of Wythop Mill.

Walking along the road between Brumston Bridge and Wythop Mill

That's not the mill, but this is where I reached the hamlet.
My walk back took be along the road leading off to the right.
