Car park, Broadgate, Grasmere
Broadgate is one of the three main car parks found in Grasmere. They all charge what may be considered over the odds, but I suppose parking in an area with so many walking options does come with a high price tag.
In addition to the walking on offer, the car park is within a minutes walk from the centre of Grasmere and everything it has to tempt the visitor.

"Yes, the middle one is the brake"
Walking past the bookshop. As always, I went in at the end of the walk to have a look at the books on the second hand shelf, but didn't buy anything today, , , , and the reason. It was raining and quite cool outside, unfortunately it was dry and quite hot inside so as soon as I went in my glasses steamed up. I started dripping water everywhere and the more I wiped the glasses the worse they became. After a few minutes the situation became far too stressful so I decided to leave empty handed. Those who wear glasses may have some sympathy for me.
Once upon a time there was a fellwalker who didn't intend going anywhere on a particular day because he'd heard it was going to rain and be very windy. Once the middle of the morning had come along, the weather didn't look so bad as he'd been lead to believe so he decided to have a wander around Grasmere and Rydal.
It looks like the other side of the road thinks it's still summer.
It was a typical autumn day today. Cloud clinging to the fellside, water running everywhere and wet leaves covering the place. On the drive from home I went through one heavy shower after another so I think I did quite well to do most of the walk in the dry.
"What do you call a seagull at Grasmere"
"Here we go with another rubbish joke. Okay on then, , , , what do they call a seagull at Grasmere"
Next time I'll bring some sheers to cut down the plants in front of the building.
A splash of sunshine on the bottom of Seat Sandal.
Hardly surprising really, but there was plenty of water running over the weir today.
A final picture of Grasmere before the short walk across to Rydal Water.
A close up of Nab Cottage.
"What you looking at"
"Nowt really, a just wanna tek ya photo"
It might have been camera shy, but it was only a matter of time until it came up for air and faced the right direction.
Nab Scar reflections in Rydal Water.
A close up of outflow end of Rydal Water.
Loughrigg Fell reflected in Rydal Water.
On the way up from the main road to the coffin route I passed by this lovely little waterfall.
Blue skies over Stone Arthur.
Actually, the car is almost always parked outside the chemist (pharmacy).
