It's the first day of the year it was obvious that 2015 had arrived in a bad mood. You're right, there's nowt I can do about that but it did spoil our plans a bit. If you've opened the link further up this page or even the one on the home page you'll know this year is (hopefully) going to be about the tarns. We had planned to start things off with a higher level walk from Ambleside but this wasn't going to be the day for that walk.. Not wanting to miss out altogether we tried to make the most of it by nipping out for a visit to Tewet Tarn instead.

Public Footpath St John's in the Vale Church and Tewet Tarn.

Clough Head and the Dodds have lost all the snow that was up there a couple of days ago.

We arrived at Tewet Tarn at the same time as the forecasted rain. Never mind, we'd done what we wanted to do today and while I walked across to the far end of the dam Jennifer took shelter next to the tree.

The dam end of the tarn in front of Clough Head.

The water helps to show how windy it was here today. Not the best day to be outdoors but I'm hopeful some of the remaining 364 days of 2015 will be more walker friendly.
