Starting Point Information Centre -
Roadside parking, near Wythop Church

This literally is parking alongside the road, with more of the car being on than off the road. There are some wider spaces in front of the church, but for instant access to the fellside below Sale Fell this is the beat spot.

Obviously parking is free along here.

Route Map

Blimey, that sky doesn't exactly fill me with confidence in getting a dry walk.

Binsey and Bassenthwaite Lake seen from the point where I turn left and begin the walk around (up) to Lothwaite.

Turning around for a view of Embleton.

Looking across to Sale Fell.

From Lothwaite you get this fantastic view over Bassenthwaite Lake.

Barf, Lord's Seat and Broom Fell.

Here's the bottom half of the memorial plaque on the seat found between Lothwaite and Rivings.
speaking for myself - - - I do love this land, I did rest awhile and I did dream my dreams.

Sale Fell seen from Rivings.

On the way to Sale Fell summit I turn around to take this picture looking back across a big chunk of todays route.

From the top of sale Fell I head down to Kelswick Farm to give myself a slightly longer walk back to the car.
There's rain in the air but nowt to panic about.

Wythop Valley; a really lovely spot but probably best seen when the sun is shining.

And to finish, it's down hill all the way back to the car.
